About Proverbs For Life

Proverbs For Life is about training the next generation of children using the principles and concepts found in the Proverbs of the Bible.  Proverbs For Life was founded in 2012 and is written by a mother of four amazing little people.  She is also a homeschool mom, English educator, speaker, and writer who often finds herself wondering, “am I raising my children right?”  It’s a huge goal and a daunting task for any parent to raise competent, self-sufficient children.

This site is built out of her desire to be purposeful in the raising of her children using the wisdom found in the Proverbs of the Bible as her guide.  Her goal is to instill in her children character traits that will enable them to be successful adults.  As a result she is developing training tools to teach not only her children, but if you are willing and interested, yours too!  There is a wisdom gap in the culture, a gap she is trying hard to fill.  Using Proverbs For Life she hopes to multiply her efforts by posting them for the world to see.

About Proverbs

The Bible’s book of Proverbs is a collection of sayings originating from Israel’s King Solomon and other various wise men and women.  Solomon is widely considered the wisest man who ever lived.  Proverbs opens with a series of poems praising wisdom and giving warning against folly and is followed by various proverbs, or wise sayings, taught to Israel.  It is clear in Proverbs that any attempt at gaining wisdom must being with the “fear” of and trust in God, the source of wisdom.  By fear I mean the same deep respect and honor given to heads of state, rather than the terror kind of fear.  As we live life, following the Proverbs can greatly assist us in managing our lives by helping us make wise decisions.  Our lives are a gift from God and should be cherished.  Wisdom according to Proverbs is to be sought above everything else if we are serious about living a full, long, godly, and successful life.

About Mandi

Mandi Parkhurst graduated Summa Cum Laude from Northeastern State University in Oklahoma with a bachelor’s degree in English Education. She has home schooled her two oldest children for a total of 5 years and counting.  She is a group leader for BSF, a non-denominational, international bible study.  She has also been a guest speaker for Pro-Life awareness at Life Choices Resource Center, Hope Pregnancy Center, Oklahoma Baptist Children’s Home, Oklahoma  Southern Baptist Convention, and before the newly elected Oklahoma House of Representatives (2010) at the state capitol.  She loves to start each morning with a bit of coffee in her cream,  enjoys reading good books, and cherishes long chats with friends.  She married her best friend and loves spending time with him and their four little ones more than she enjoys doing anything else.

For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up! (ESV)’ I desire to work along side you in your efforts to raise your children, to encourage you on the hard days, give inspiration for the fun days, and remind you that it is all so very worth the effort.
